Sarah’s personal story
Upset about potential hair loss before her wedding.
When she was diagnosed with breast cancer at 37, Sarah was just months away from getting married. She contacted HSC for a second opinion and it became clear to her Case Manager that she was particularly anxious about the potential side effects of cancer treatment. Specifically, she was upset at the prospect of any hair loss in the run up to her big day.
Having established the emotional significance of potential side effects for Sarah, HSC arranged an Expert Second Opinion with a specialist who had access to therapies that wouldn’t affect her hair. She was thrilled and agreed to be treated immediately. Sarah’s medical appointments and travel schedule were arranged on her behalf. She responded well to treatment and had a full head of hair on her wedding day.
