Lionel’s personal story
Reassurance that a proposed treatment plan was suitable.
67-year old Lionel contacted HSC after a throat cancer diagnosis. He wanted to be certain his diagnosis was accurate. And that his proposed treatment plan was the most suitable.
HSC collated Lionel’s medical records, scheduled an Expert Second Opinion and arranged for a sample of his tumour tissue to be sent to a specialist for review. Lionel’s travel from Scotland to London was also organised for him. He was met at the train station by his Cancer Nurse Specialist. She provided an ‘extra pair of ears’ at his consultation.
“A small dosage change was recommended and Lionel’s NHS doctor was happy to implement it.”
Lionel was understandably anxious about his London visit. And he wasn’t sure what to expect. But the Expert Second Opinion soon put his mind at rest. The consultation supported his original NHS treatment plan. Only a small dosage change was recommended and Lionel’s NHS doctor was happy to implement it.
Lionel benefitted from ongoing telephone support from HSC for over a year and continued to have his queries answered and additional treatment options reviewed.
