Adele’s personal story
Employer’s scheme brings hope and comfort to pregnant daughter with bowel cancer.
Diagnosed with an aggressive form of bowel cancer when she was 32 weeks pregnant, 34-year-old Adele was reluctant to pursue an Expert Second Opinion. She didn’t want to hear for a second time that there was very little that could be done.
Adele’s father turned to HSC through a scheme provided by his employer. He wanted to understand what options remained for Adele. And what the near future might hold.
“Diagnosed with an aggressive form of bowel cancer when she was 32 weeks pregnant, Adele is now a proud mummy.”
HSC supported the whole family at this intensely emotional time. Cancer specific counselling was arranged. And Adele was given a clearer understanding of bowel cancer before deciding to go ahead with an Expert Second Opinion and have surgery.
She chose to be accompanied to her chemotherapy appointments by her Cancer Nurse Specialist. Adele is now a proud mummy. And the whole family continues to receive personalised support from HSC.
